Gypsy wrote: I’ve missed that stupid “tuxedo” question twice. (To be clear(er), “tuxedo” is the wrong answer.) And then recently I missed the question in Learned League where the answer WAS “tuxedo.” Then I gave up and read about the history of tuxedoes. GYPSY I thought the get rate on that would be much higher than it was. But, then again, I think that a lot on there. .. |

Nor did I know that "tuxedo" comes from Native American. I guess I can see it now. I put "fedora," which you eagle-eyed readers may note came from France, not New York. But at least it was from about the same time, and Pierre Lorillard IV is a French name. So it wasn't my worst wrong answer. By far. (Unfortunately.) GYPSY |

I must have a mental block against Arkansas. pengwn wrote: One could say you have . . . issues about this question Quote: tiefly wrote: ...or he subscribes to the wrong answer spotes wrote: Luckily, their pun usage is only periodical. The statute of limitations may have expired, but I never *saw* this coming. A couple hours before sunset, on a dry day, I decided to assay Magazine Mtn in my jogging shoes. I made it about 300 yards before the sunlight tilted in such a direction that every thirty feet or so I could visually perceive what I had already felt. There were, with nearly mathematical precision, spiderwebs flung across the path. The webs were easily a yard across, and spun by girls the size and color of chili beans. I immediately gave up the game, but the welts left on me didn't disappear for a month. I would recommend hunkering down in Excelsior Springs. Spectacular vistas of the Black River, the Ozark park system, and some fine spelunking as well. Just don't go jogging near sunset. |
