Post subject:  Random Acts of Trivia

I've started a vew trivia related threads. One seems to have taken off rather well, and some died a very sad death (no, it's not alive). I am hoping to improve my batting average with a new thread.

This one is simple.

While at a non-Buzztime bar a week or so ago, I saw that on one of their TV's they had some trivia questions among other interesting (and non-interesting) facts du jour. One of the trivia questions stood out to me, because it wasn't "current". I wrote down the question and the answer, and verified it on the internet.

That got me to thinking.

This thread is basically about posting trivia that you hear on the television, radio, live games, etc, AND can verify on the internet. There might be a challenge from time to time, but you must prove from a reliable source by supplying an internet link. Yes, I know. I said reliable and internet in the same sentence. And I know I can open a can of worms with someone posting an question/answer that can have more than one answer, and I know that sometimes the internet isn't reliable, but HOPEFULLY we can share, as dictionary.com describes it:

matters or things that are very unimportant, inconsequential, or nonessential; trifles; trivialities.

P.S. Don't post links to trivia games, or long lists of curious "facts". I'm hoping for simple posts that has one question and one answer. A LEGIT question and a LEGIT answer. Not "who didn't join me for breakfast today......Ben Franklin, cause he's dead"

Here is my posting, that started the thread idea.

In the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which actor was turned down for the starring role of Roy Neary because he couldn't cry on clue?

Steve McQueen

look at the first bullet point under "Casts"

Sounds like a high-octane Baseless Lie thread to me. All I gotta do is make something up, post it to my Facebook wall, and link it back here in the form of a question
