Yesterday afternoon, playing Countdown with 8-9 friends and a question came up:

"What did Pan Am Airlines call their fleet of planes?:"

Ans: CLIPPERS

I haven't seen that question for a couple of years but I was happy to announce to the group that I had written that one for the 2000 Tampa Bash.

NTN allowed me to write a complete game to honor the Bad Barters that had come from all over the country to attend. The Pan Am question, of course, was to salute our friend CLIPPR from the venerable Teaser's in Chicago. I don't know what happened to the other 14 questions but this one still pops up every now and then.

My teammies were crying for Buzztime to bring up the entire game I wrote to follow but I'm afraid those questions are lost to this generation of players. They looked upon me with new respect. No one knew I was a retired part-time monkey.

That's pretty cool. (I even got the answer right).

I get a sense of pride when I see the Strawberry Festival/Buckhannon, WV question that was a salute to WVBTO II.

Congrats to you, Bob. And yes, there was an entire game that NTN (I loathe to refer it as simply "Buzztime") broadcasted, that was written with a reference to an existing trivia player, during the days when BadBart was far more active than it is today.

Thanks for the memory jog, because it makes me feel like going back to BadBart and search their archives. 8-)

I'm too tired to bash any more tonight. I just got home. The response to
the special game was enormous at the Station, and I hope the rest of you
enjoyed it as well wherever you were.

In answer to the request to post the game, I can sort of do that. The game
came about through several discussions I had with Andrew Berlin at NTN. He
was 100% cooperative in all respects and went out of his way to help make it
happen for us. If you enjoyed it, send him a note and tell him.

Of course, he needed a monkey to write the game, and I got the job.

Below, please see the game in its format that I submitted to NTN. There
were several small edits made by NTN to my text, but for the most part, it
was the game you all saw that were there tonight. You will see that I had
to write the fifteen questions, three clues for each, a follow-up factoid,
and a reference for the question. Question #6 & 11 were rewritten by NTN
but the answers remained the same..

The correct answers are, of course, written in CAPITAL LETTERS:
