I took care of dress and stink like a peasant right away. (Only had to go to my clothes closet.) On fire was no problem either, I'm always "ON FIRE"...! However, Trogdor burninates me every time at the end, as he will do to you.

p.s. If you want to max the game out at 150 points, you must use the baby in 3 odd situations (nothing kinky), shut the drawer at Naked Ned's place, and talk to Trogdor just before he burinates you in his mountain hideout. (This is assuming that you have done all of the easy stuff right.)

p.p.s. Long ago I found a web site that told about a glitch in the game with the baby and the the well thing, where you could amass unlimited points. I did it once, and indeed it was true, you could go beyond 150 points as far as you wanted. I can no longer find that website, and sadly don't remember exactly how to do it. I've tried a number of times, but nothing seems to work. (Got a feeling that the HomeStarRunner people may have fixed the glitch.)

This is a link for "Peasant's Quest" aficionados only...! If you go to this link and watch the video, before you have played the entire game on the HomeStarRunner web site, it is quite possible that you will go blind and deaf. Worse yet, you won't understand a thing. However, if you have played the game, you will laugh your ass off.

Personally, for me, Trogdor began when DANTE told me about Trogdor. There's more to the story, but I won't bore you with the details. (At least not right now.) Trogdor is the burninating dragon that the peasant, Rather Dashing, is going after for revenge, after his cottage was burninated to the ground by Trogdor in "Peasant's Quest".

Here is a link to a video that tells you the true origin of Trogdor:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90X5NJleYJQ&NR=1

There is a "Trogdor" game also. It is very simple, but you might want to try it some night when you have nothing better to do. :D

This afternoon I got to see YODA's MAME game for the first time. He created it himself using an old arcade "Joust" console. By hand, he built an incredible playing platform (He's got a better name for it, but I can't remember exactly what it is called.) Up to four people can play at the same time. Everyone has their own joy stick and a bunch of action buttons in front of them to play. According to YODA, it will let you play pretty much every arcade game there ever was! The darn thing has more buttons and swiches to fool around with than the cockpit of a Boeing 747. Sadly, we were dismantling the machine to load on a U-Haul truck to relocate to a storage facility, until he can find the time and room to move it, and a bunch of other things to his house, so I never got to try it out.

Very cool. Yes, I was always going to try making my own cabinet and definitely takes alot of talent and work but so worth it when it's up and working. And the wonderful thing about it is, you can have various controllers [i.e. a trackball, multiple joysticks or whatever] and configure it any way you'd want. Plus it's open ended the number of games you can have for it. My mame emulator on my main PC with all it's games takes up like 13 gig. But alot of those are repeats or different versions of the same game. I.E. about 30 different versions of pac-man.

Cheers,

Tony, YODA's MAME console was amazing just to look at. Maybe he has a picture of it. I'll get in touch with him to see if he does, and if he does, I'll see if I can get him to post it here.

Your MAME system sounds pretty neat also. Thirty different versions of "Pac-Man"...! Hell, I couldn't get far enough in the game to be able to put my initials (KSM) on the one I used to play at the Decanter Bar on Market Street, the old office watering hole in Louisville we all went to after work back in the 1970's. (Sadly, the Decanter Bar is now long gone, and so is the "Pac-Man" game that I could never get my initials on.)

You computer geeks will never cease to impress and amaze me.

I've spent a little time going back to previous posts on this thread, and adding links to web sites that provided videos of as many of the games that I and others have mentioned as I could. When you have nothing to do, you might want to meander back and check them out. Got a feeling that you might enjoy seeing videos of the games that you used to love, and better yet the ones that I have recommeded that you will love after you have played them. There might be a few that I missed, and I will go back and check them all again, but if you find one of the games that you liked that got skipped over, it would be nice, if you added a video link to it. :D

p.s. I could only edit my posts to add these links. If you want to check your computer game posts out, and add links to videos of them, please do so, if you care to. I would enjoy watching them.

I've got to put "Astrotit" up here again.

Here's a link to download the game:

http://www.oldgames.nu/PC/Astro_Tit/10392/

(If this link doesn't work for you, there are many more.)

It's a very old, salty, DOS game, and kind of fun to play. It mimics mainstream games of its day. See if you can find it, and give it a shot.

p.s. The game is a wee bit naughty.

"Martian Gothic: Unification" (2000) is a game you MUST play. It could very well be the best PC game I have ever played. I know you can buy it very cheaply these days, but I think it has issues with Windows 7. You also probably need to go to the game's home site, and download a patch to be able to beat the game. If you can get by these two obstacles, you will be playing one of the best games ever made for the PC.

Here is a link to a video that shows bits of the begining of the game. (Believe me it gets much better pretty soon, and only gets better as the game progresses.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XH8Z6TxROyg

Here's a link that shows you a little bit more or the game:

Here's a link to more bits to the beginning of the game:

This game is a very strong recommendation. I hope some of you will give it try. If you do, I promise you that you will not be disappointed. Just a few screen shots to show you that there is much more to come...

DANTE, I'm proud of you. Hell, my reputation is at stake here, I sure hope you like "Martian Gothic: Unification". This is the second time I've posted the game here, and I gave some hints as how to advance through the game on the first post. If you scroll back a long way through many pages, you can find them, but I will give you some more hints here. These hints are far from being a walkthrough. They are things that you would eventually figure out by yourself, but having to figure them out is a waste of time and quite frustrating.

1- You will need to save the game a lot of times. The problem is that you must get to one of the in-game computers to save your progress, and each computer has its own limit of saves that it will permit. So use your saves wisely. (Don't use them up at the beginning of the game, you will need them later.) (When you are using an in-game computer, the zombies will leave you alone, but if they are around and on their feet, they will leap upon you as soon as you log off.) (If you can, at important spots, try to save your game on computers that don't have a zombie in the room that can attack you, or that you don't have to do a whole lot of fighting to get back to.

Image

.... On the far left of this screen shot is one of the in-game computers, where you can save your game.

2- Each of your three characters has a limit as to how many things they can carry with them. When a character's inventory is full, they cannot pick anything else up. However, you can store items that you don't need at various locations to free up space. Don't do this willy-nilly. When you store things, do it in a way that you can remember where they are, because you will often have to retrieve them to use later on. (After you've listened to dead people's recorders, you can pretty much get rid of them. However, there is one major exception near the beginning of the game, where you will need a dead person's recorder.) (Actually, the above screen shot is of the room where you will need a dead person's recorder.)

3- Weapon choice and conservation of ammunition are important. Basically, don't waste a bazooka to kill an ant. Most of the time you want to save your big guns for tough situations waiting for you down the road. (I found that the nail gun and it's ammo were wastes of inventory space. You may find differently, but I think you are better off not picking up the nail guns and their ammo. You will have to waste storage places to get rid of them. Storage places fill up too.)

4- When a zombie gets you in its clutches, toggle the left and right arrow buttons very rapidly to shake loose from it.

5- Use the vacuum tubes to transfer items from one character to another. (Receiving vacuum tube stations must be empty to receive things.) (Check your characters' inventories to see if one has something that another probably needs, and send it to them.)

6- Sometimes you will have to combine items you find to create a new item needed to accomplish something. (Not often.)

7- For the most part, the zombies you kill only stay dead for a short period of time, and will come back to life to attack you again. (Dead people that you don't have to kill will stay dead, and you don't have to worry about them, with the exeption of the very beginning of the game, when dead people, whom you didn't kill lying on the floor let you walk by the first time you go by them, but the next time you see them, they will be groaning and getting to their feet.)

8- As you progress through the game you will discover certain safe spots, where the zombies will not go. Leave your characters in these safe spots, before switching to another character. If you don't, the zombies will get them while you are someplace else with another character. (You do get a warning when this is happening, but it's much better to not let this happen.)

9- Move fast, because time is often important. (There is a button you can click to make the characters run.)

10- Look out for the low life and poison monitors at the top of the screen. (Some of the spider-like crabs will inject you with poison.) Use your life restoring and poison serums quickly, when you are at risk of dying. (Don't waste your life restoring serum prematurely.)

11- In narrow hallways infested with zombies, searching dead bodies could be a mistake. Getting by them is usually more important. (This comes later in the game.)

12- If possible, try to clean out a room or location of all the goodies it has there before leaving. There are many places you don't want to have to fight your way back into to pick up something you left behind.

13- "Stay Alone. Stay Alive"... This warning that you get at the beginning of the game is important. If you allow the characters to get within eye shot of each other, your game will end immediately. However, there is one room where you will need two characters there at the same time. It's a big room, and one character needs to be in the front part and the other at the back part of the room. You will figure this out when you get there.

............ Image

This is the room where you will need two of your charaters in at the same time to progress. Don't let them get too close to each other. (Not the first time you go there. The first time you only need one character in the room.)

14- If any one of your three characters dies, the game is over.

Good luck DANTE, and remember that you MUST get the patch for the game before playing it. (The patch is necessary to be able to crawl through the ductwork behind the zombie floating in the air, before the mutant creature chasing after you in the ductwork gets you. This happens fairly early in the game.)

... Image

.... The entrance to the ductwork that you need the patch for is behind the floating zombie in this screen shot.

Here's a link to a site that I think has the patch.

http://www.brothersoft.com/games/martia ... patch.html

If this link doesn't work for you, there are a bunch more out there that offer it.

p.s. If you ever get stuck, you can always consult a walkthrough, or better yet, just give me a call. Though it's been a while since I last played it, I still think I can remember a bunch of shit.

Thank ye. I have two big projects I'm working on that will take up quite a bit of my free time, about 8000 pages of reading to get through, and then two video games to finish before I can play it. ETA likely around September before I get it. I hope it can be completed within a few months of an hour or so a day play. Because on 11-11-11, you will hear from me or see me very rarely, as the new Elder Scrolls game is coming out, and those games are quite literally one of my favorite things on Earth. :)

I understand, but when you finally find the time to play "Martian Gothic: Unification", I think the tips I have given you will help you in the game.

Hurry up, because Martin Karne, Diane Matlock, and Kenzo Uji are all waiting for you to save their lives. Mood is also waiting for you, but you won't meet her until you get about halfway through the game. I probably shouldn't tell you this, but Mood is only really interested in talking with Kenzo Uji. Go ahead and have Mood talk with Karne and Matlock, if you want, but they will probably have to fight their way there for pretty much nothing. Yep, Mood wants to talk with Kenzo.

.................................................................... Image

............................................................................. Help us DANTE, We're waiting for you...

p.s. With my hints, I think you will polish it off in a week or less. :D

"Pyst" (1996) was a satirical spoof of "Myst". As I recall, it really wasn't as much of a game as it was a goofy video walkthrough satire. I've got the game somewhere, I'll check... Found it, but it was a waste of time, only a stupid audio song would play from the CD.

Gotta go to the Internet now and Google "Pyst".

Here's the first stupid video I found:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zf8jyHt44Xw

Here's another stupid, short video of it I found that includes the incredibly dumb "Pyst" song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gySMy539 ... re=related

I keep hoping to find a good link to this terrible "game", but alas here is one more link that only idiots will enjoy:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wWn5LK-wLk

Here's a link to the making of "Pyst". It's as bad as all of the rest. Looking back, I regret ever buying this ridiculous "non-game".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gySMy539 ... re=related

"Pyst" is a strong never buy it, or watch it recommendation. Hell, it could have been good, but it ain't.

The people who made "Pyst" had no imagination, no creativity, little skill, and a sense of humor that wouldn't get junior high school kids to laugh.

p.s. I'm pissed...!

p.p.s. Why the Hell did John Goodman ever agree to appear in this piece of shit "game" ?

p.p.p.s. That is as kind as I can be to this vomitous "non-game"...

I talked to YODA a little while ago, and he told me that he does not have a picture of his MAME arcade cabinet. He suggested that I browse through Google images to find one like it. Here's the best I could find, but YODA's has many more joy sticks, colored buttons, and other neat shit.

p.s. YODA calls his "Auntie".

"The Polar Express" (2004) was a game that I picked up a few years ago. I thought it would be some kind of kids' game, so it just sat on the shelf until last week, when I decided to play it. Hell, it ain't any softie game, you can die many times. I have struggled my way to the railroad car with the Jack-in-the boxes that I have to destroy with a giant mallet. My lives left are so low when I get here, that I haven't been able to progress beyond them. Anyone ever play this game? If you haven't, when you do, you will find out that is tougher than you think. I am embarassed to admit that the point I have been unable to get beyond, before I have used up all of my lives, is very early in the game.

Here is a link to some video of the game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AghRlTdB ... re=related

Whoever put this link up there has a motor mouth, and pasted some cartoon graphics that are his, and not part of the game, but it's the best link I have been able to find.

Here is a screen shot from the game:

Image

p.s. I got beyond the food fight car. The trick here is to duck. The giant ice cube car is where I used up most of my lives.

"Blackbeard's Revenge" (2007) is a game I just started. So far all of the ships I have wanted to plunder have escaped. Guess I need to read the instructions again.

It runs perfectly well on Windows 7. To get into the game, you need to type in the code that is printed on the the sleeve your CD comes in. So far I'm not really excited about the game, but maybe, if I actually learn how to play it, I might like it better. The game requires some keyboard play, which really hurts you, if you've had a few brewskis.

Image

p.s. Don't confuse this game with a slot machine game with the same name.

(Belated edit - I actually think this probably isn't a very good game, and it is definitely NOT a recommendation. That is unless you're bored and want to give it a try.) :D

The "13th Skull" (2010) is the 7th in the "Mystery Case Files" series from Big Fish Games. It is probably the BEST hidden object game I have played so far. (Yeah, I know most hidden object games are pretty stupid, but this one is very different.) The hidden object parts are few and far between, and are secondary to the play of the game. The game has much more to do with solving puzzles and figuring out problems to get past obstacles. Though somewhat difficult at times, the puzzles and problems can be figured out logically. (Some will take a long time though, and most players will have to consult a walkthrough more than once.) There are clues hidden at various locations that will help you find your way. So far it seems to be a fair game, that doesn't require you to consult a walkthrough to get by impossible obstacles, that other games often torture you with. It's a long game, and you will get your money's worth out of it. It is a strong recommendation.

p.s. The game includes it's own hint option to use when you are stuck, and will allow you to skip puzzles that you find too difficult or time consuming to figure out.

p.p.s. I stink a checkers, and had to skip that game at the bar. :(

p.p.p.s. The things you need to find are scattered all over the place. The game will keep you running around. :D

Image .......... Image

Here's a link to a short video of game play:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eW1_7NRmh6I

Here's a link to a link to a long video of game play:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGzo11sOxuU

(Belated edit: I should have said that even though the clues are all there, sometimes they are a little hard to figure out.)

Cloudy, I own all of the Mystery Case File series games and I agree that is a great game. My favorite in the series is Return to Ravenhurst.

Darn, you may have something there. I've got a few of the "Mystery Case File" games, and I've got a feeling that they might all be the good hidden object games that I have played. I will need to check them out, but I'm thinking you are probably right. Thanks for the tip. I don't think I have them all, and I probably need to get the ones I don't have.

Is that one of those words I would have learned if I played Lexitopia?
