Come on, somebody put your movies up here... This thread will get extremely boring, if the only movies that are added to it are obscure movies that only I have ever watched. Let's get this thread rocking again. Can't do it by myself, I need your help.

I'm sure that most of you have movies you really enjoyed that have disappeared from what is shown these days. This is your chance to bring them back to life, and let us know that they might be worth watching.

p.s. With all of the crappy ones I've put up on this thread, I don't think you have to worry about how good the obscure movie you like is. :D

Damn, they didn't show up on my computer. Tried them both. :(

However, I am going to make a wild ass guess.

Are they "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" (1978) and "Return of the Killer Tomatoes" (1988)...?

Image.......... Image

If so, check these links to videos of them out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebfLWAB8bY4 ("Attack of the Killer Tomatoes")

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSlPC4z4jvg ("Return of the Killer Tomatoes")

p.s. Why did it take them 10 years to bring out the sequel? I think there two more sequels after these.

"20 Million Miles to Earth" (1957) is another great Ray Harryhausen movie. (He made so many.) The gals probably won't care for this movie, but old fart guys, who lived for black and white, sci-fi, horror movies back in the 1950's, must see it, if they haven't already. Maybe today's youngsters might even like the movie. It's a good one from years gone by.

Image

Here's a link to some video of the movie:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igpP7IVww_g

While Googling for images of this movie, I ran into a bunch of colorized pictures. I've got a feeling that this black and white movie, may have been re-released in a colorized version. (Hell, just noticed that at the beginning or this post, the first picture of this movie's box shot says that it was indeed colorized and released on it's 50th anniversary.)

At the risk of turning this thread into "The Worst Movies Ever Made" thread (too late), I submit one by perhaps the biggest star of all (oh well, they can't all be 'True Grit').

Image

This review perhaps put it best...

"If there was ever a movie that makes the viewer stare at the screen in disbelief, then "The Conqueror" might be it. I have told numerous people about this film, and everyone responds with incredulous amusement. However, when I show them John Wayne dressed in furs and sporting a drooping Asian moustache, those same people collapse into giggling piles of useless flesh. What scares me is that seeing them giggling makes me want to giggle, and if I start giggling over John Wayne trying to play Genghis Khan, I am probably not going to stop until I am dead.

This really is a bad movie. I cannot fathom how anybody involved ever thought it was going to turn out 'OK'. "

.................. Yeah, Duke was a dead ringer for Genghis Khan.

Here's a link to the movie:

There is no question about it, "The Conqueror" (1956) is definitely the worst movie John Wayne ever made. How someone would have cast him in this role is hard to believe. It is harder to understand why he ever accepted the role. I doubt he needed the money, I'm guessing that Duke viewed it as a challenge. :?

I got to meet John Wayne many years ago. I didn't ask him about "The Conqueror", but we did chat briefly about "Flying Leathernecks". He was a big man, and very friendly.

Here's a link to video of "Flying Leathernecks":

p.s. I don't think "Flying Leathernecks" has been colorized yet...

ICEMAM. you were worried about posting the worst movie ever with "The Conqueror". Hell it doesn't come close to this...

Image

Here is my entry for "Worst Movie Ever Made". It is a movie made in the Philippines, called "For Your Height Only" (1981). I've got it on VHS, but only watched about 10 minutes of it. I don't think it is likely that anyone can find it out there, it really stunk. It was a spoof of the Bond film "For Your Eyes Only", starring a midget in the role of agent "00".

Here he is:

Image

Here's a link to some video footage of the movie:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5KeUMxyAwM

I'm somewhat worried that this movie may have somehow become a cult classic, as IMDb gives it 5 1/2 stars. :?

I must say that this movie is NOT A CLOUDY RECOMMENDATION, I REPEAT THIS MOVIE IS NOT A CLOUDY RECOMMENDATION !!!

If you can find it, watch it at your own risk.

p.s. Don't pay more than $1.00 for this movie, if you feel compelled to see it.

The orginal black and white movie, "Angles in the Outfield" (1951) is a great movie for old fart baseball fans, who can remember when they were young.

Here's a link to some film footatge of the movie:

http://www.matttrailer.com/angels_in_the_outfield_1951

(TIEFLY, if you are listening, you have to watch this movie. I Think it has something to do with the Pittsburg Pirates.)

p.s. Yep it was re-made in 1994 with Danny Glover starring.

"The Stratton Story" (1949) is another great old time baseball flick. I believe it is based on a true story. Sorry, this is another black and white film, but I think you will like it. The movie starred Jimmy Stewart and June Allyson.

Here's a link to some video from the movie:

"Fiend Without a Face" (1958) is a must for old guys, who love those old black and white sci-fi horror films from the 1950's.

I need some help here. I believe there was a 1950's horror movie that promised to pay $1.,000,000 to the estate of anyone in the theater, who died from fright waching it.

I thought it was "The Tingler", but I don't think that is right. Does anybody know what movie that was?

"Zombies of Mora Tau" (1957) was a movie that scared the crap out of me when I was in the 7th grade. Yep, this is another one that younger people won't think is all that good. In fact, they will probably think it sucks. However, for old farts, who lived for black and white horror movies back in the 1950's, you will love this movie.

A quick Google shows it was Macabre(1958) and the figure was only $10k.

I need some help here. I believe there was a 1950's horror movie that promised to pay $1.,000,000 to the estate of anyone in the theater, who died from fright waching it.

I thought it was "The Tingler", but I don't think that is right. Does anybody know what movie that was?

A quick Google shows it was Macabre(1958) and the figure was only $10k.

BO, nice research. How the hell did you ever find this? You're much too young to remember it. :D

Here's a quote from Wikipedia:

"Castle took the bold step to mortgage his house to be able to make the thriller independently. Filming took place from August 15, 1958 to August 23, 1958.

Macabre is considered Castle's first foray into using the promotional gimmicks that later made him famous. A certificate for a $1,000 life insurance policy from Lloyd's of London was given to each customer in case he/she should die of fright during the film. Showings also had ushers dressed in surgical garb with ambulances outside theater."

I don't have the movie, and I have never seen it. However, I will have to put it on my list of movies that I need to see. (Do you think the $1,000 offer is still good?)

Here's a link to the theatrical trailer:

p.s. Do you think anyone still has one of those Lloyd's of London certificates they handed out? Hell, I've got a feeling that if anyone does, it would probably be worth a pretty penny today.

Here's what it looked like:

Cloudy, don't waste your time or money on this whore movie. It is not the least bit scary and it really is not a horror movie. It is more or mostly less of a terrible boring mystery movie. I saw it when it was first released and had one of those insurance certificates which is long gone. I saw it again as an adult on TV, maybe 10 or 15 year later. It was worse than I remembered.

Frank, do you still have the certificate...? Sadly, I'm guessing that you don't. However, if you do, you might want to give it to your wife, watch the movie one more time, fake your death, and collect $1,000 from Lloyd's of London.

p.s. Actually, if you still have the certificate, you will probably make more, if you put it on eBay.

p.p.s. Thanks for the warning about this movie. :D

"The Phantom Planet" (1961) isn't all that bad, but it's another recommendation that probably only old farts, who liked sci-fi flicks from years gone by, will appreciate.

Here's a link to whole damn movie:

I am unable to find the movie's trailer, or some short footage of it. If anybody can, please post the link to it here. Thanks. :D

I'll throw in a couple that I have enjoyed (TV movies though):

The Duel (1971) with Dennis Weaver

THe Jericho Mile (1979) with Peter Strauss

YES...! "The Duel" (1971 - TV) was a great movie. It starred Dennis Weaver, and I believe it was the first full-length movie that Steven Spielberg directed.

I've never seen "The Jericho Mile", but I will put it on my list of movies that I need to see. Please tell us about, if you want. :D
