Here are two more pretty good "Big Fish" games:

"Echoes of the past: The Castle of Shadows" (2010)

Image

Here's a link to some video of the game:

"Echoes of the Past: Royal House of Stone" (2010)

Here's a link to some video of the game:

Once again, the stupid hidden object scenes are secondary to game play for both of these games. The real challenge is being smart enough to figure out puzzles and problems. You can get both games for $9.99 on one CD at WalMart. I say go wild, go to WalMart, and waste ten bucks. You may actually find these games fun, and you might even beat them. Come on, wake up, give them a try. What do you have to lose...? Ten bucks...? Big deal, when you have the chance to open up a whole new world that you are missing out on.

p.s. BRANDY, I don't know if you have played these two games, but I think they are right up your alley...

I don't think I've put this game up here before. If I did, please excuse me. It should be a great game, and I don't want you guys to miss out on it.

Here's some video of the game:

Come on somebody, give this game a try. You might be surprised, actually like it, and possibly beat it.

The game is a little bit quirky on Windows 7. I thought I had played it before, but it doesn't seem that I have. I'll give it a try again, but if you aren't on Windows 7 yet, I've got a feeling that the game will run just fine for you.

YODA, here are a few more for you to emulate:

Image

"The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes, The Case of the Serrated Scaple"

Here's a link to some video of the game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csNewDS_WwQ

Image

"The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes, The Case of the Rose Tattoo"

Here's a link to some video of the game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly16JS75sTU

Image

"Sherlock, The Riddle of the Crown Jewels"

Here's a link to some video of what looks like a text based game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUPpjYjoI3M

Image

"Chemicus, Journey to the Other Side"

Here's a link to what the game looked like:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmhNBQow004

(They say that this game plays very much like "Myst". Damn I want to play it.) (Shit, all of the videos of the game I could find are in a foreign language. However, I have faith that the game I have will be in English. Got my fingers crossed.)

p.s. YODA, none of these games will play on Windows 7, but I've got them all sitting right next to me in their boxes as I type these words. I tried to load each one of them earlier tonight with no success.

(Belated edit: I did not try to play "Sherlock, The Riddle of the Crown Jewels". It came with 5 1/4 and 3 1/2 floppies. There is no way that it would play on my current computer, because the bays to play them are long gone.)

I might have already put "Return to Mysterious Island" up here already, but I don't think I have. This is a great game, and son-of-a-bitch it plays on Windows 7.

This is NOT a hidden object game. It is a lot of fun, and fairly challenging. I say to any gamers, who are still out there, get this game and play it. I think you will love it, even though it ain't easy.

Image

Oh, the places where you will go playing this game...

Here's some video of how the game goes:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26Y-uNCI14g

p.s. The game comes on two CD's. The first one loads up lickity split. The second one takes some patience, while it loads.

p.p.s. It does not appear that you will need a CD in the drive to play the game, after you have loaded it to your hard drive.

(Belated Edit: There is a sequel called, of all things, "Return to Mysterious Island 2".)

"Sherlock Homes vs. Jack the Ripper" is a good game, and much to my surpise it will play on Windows 7. Give it a try, I think you will like it.

Here's a link to what the game looks like:

Here's a link to some more video or the game:

Here's a llnk that shows some game play:

p.s. It doesn't look like it needs the CD in the drive to play the game after installing it.

"Beyond Atlantis, Your Journey Awaits" was one of many computer games hiding in my basement that I have never played. I staggered down the stairs, brought it back up, and loaded it onto Windows 7 tonight. I fully expected it to give me a bunch of error messages, telling me that it was incompatible with Windows 7. Surprise, surprise, what a nice surpise... Son-of-a-bitch it loaded, and it works...! I can't recommend the game yet, even though it looks pretty good, because I have only just begun it, but I'm guessing it will be a good one.

Has anyone ever played "Beyond Atlanis, Your Journey Awaits" yet...?

Here are some pretty screen shots of places I have never been to yet:

Image ....Image .... Image

Sorry, I couldn't find a video for this game, and I am a little concerned the screen shots from the game that I put up here, could possibly be from a sequel.

Give "Sherlock Holmes: The Awakend" a try, I have just start playing it, and I think it looks like a good game.

Here's some video of how the game plays:

The other one is "The Case of the Vanishing Thief"

It looks like a cartoon Sherlock Holmes game, and I cannot find any video of it. (It will NOT install on Window's 7, so this is yet one more emulation project for YODA.)

Brandy, I may be wrong, but I think you recommended "Ravenhearst". I actually had the game, but had never played it. Earlier tonight I stripped the cellophane from the box it came in, removed the CD, inserted it into my computer's CD drive, and played it for the first time. You probably won't like my critique of the game. It put me through wall to wall hidden object scenes, over and over again. The puzzles that I had to solve to advance weren't all that bad, and some were kind of fun. I stumbled my way through most of them, and on a few, after wasting a bunch of time, I just gave up, and hit the skip button. (It pissed me off that when I did that. I lost all of my hints for the hidden object screens that followed, and some of the hidden objects were ridiculously impossible to find...)

I'm pretty close to finishing the game, and I think I will do it tomorrow. However, "Ravenhearst" is not my cup of tea.

Here's a little video of the game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t25y9aEyy2c

Here's one of dozens and dozens of the game's hidden object screens. Good luck, go find all of those freaking hidden objects:

Image

p.s. "Ravenhearst" plays on Windows 7, with one execption. The "full screen" option does NOT give you the full screen. It only moves a 5" by 5" screen from the upper left corner of the monitor to a 5" by 5" screen in the middle of your monitor.

I might have previously mentioned the computer game, "Return to Mysterious Island". However, if I didn't, this a wonderful, and challenging game that you should play. Windows 7 allows you to load and play it. The game isn't easy, and makes you try to figure things out, and solve all sorts of problems. It's a really good game, and I strongly recommend it. It is fairly old, and I would guess that you can pick it for a song these days.

It loads with no problem on Widows 7 (Two disks) and plays with no problem.

I will be interested to hear if any of you have already played the game, and better yet, if any of you are going to get it and play it for the first time.

This is close to where you begin:

Image

Here's some video of how the game starts out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26Y-uNCI14g

If you are a true computer gamer, take a trip to "Return to Mysterious Island" and see if you can leave it a winner.

Cloudy, the one I recommended was Return to Ravenhearst. It's the sequel but it is truly a great game. Not nearly as many hidden object scenes and more of an adventure game. Let me know if you've tried it.

I'm sorry, my failing memory did not serve me well. I know I have "Return to Ravenhearst" somewhere in the catacombs of my basement. I think that I might have already played it, but I promise to find it, and play it again. All of your recommendations have been very good so far, and I plan to keep going with them.

Image

........................................ This screen shot of "Return to Ravenhearst". It looks pretty interesting.

Here's a link to some vido of the game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYnibmbG2rw

(After watchin this video, I now rembemer that I HAVE played this game, and it was a good one...!}

(Please forgive me, I have played hundreds of computer games, I'm old and cannot always remember all of the games I've played over the last 25 years. Does 1986 to 2011 come to 25 years...? I sure hope so, because if my math is wrong, LilJol will be be banning me for being stupid again on the "Ban the Person Above You" thread.) (I've acutally gone back and played a lot of computer games that came before 1986, when I bought my first IBM PC.)

p.s. I think there is a "Return to Ravenheast 2". I don't think I have this game. Have you played it? I just might go out and pick it up to see what it's like.

p.p.s. Now that I know that you did NOT recommend the original "Ravenhearst" game, I will come out and say that it really sucks.

(Love your recommendations, keep them coming.)

"Drawn, The Painted Tower" is an obscure game that you will never find recommended from anybody but me. Sometimes obscure games are pretty good, and this one is one of them. It ain't a hidden object game, it is a continuous problem solving game. Yeah, there are things you need to find that are hidden, but they aren't on some stupid list on a screen of 15 objects that have nothing to do with game play. I love it, because the problem solving is very fair, and if you are any good, you can figure things out without having to resort to a walkthrough.

Here is but one of early places this game will take you:

Image

Here is a video introduction to the game narrated by a man, who loves it more than I do, and that's something...!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjfejZKq9qc

He didn't get very far in his initial introduction to the game, so here is the link to part 2 of his introduction:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00bxHCUGLRc&NR=1

This is all that I will give you. You will have to stumble your way up through the rest of the puzzles to top of the tower by yourself. It's somewhat challenging, but a lot of fun. Good luck, I think you will enjoy playing this game.

It plays just fine on Windows 7, and the game has been out for a number of years, so you can probably pick it up for less than ten bucks these days. If you think you are pretty smart, and can figure things out, get this game and play it. When you beat it, your ego chart will jump by at least 10 points.

p.s. I found out earlier tonight that if you have already played the game once, and beaten it, you will have to create a new player profile, if you want to play it again. (A lot of games do the same thing.)

p.p.s. I think this is truly a game that is very different from any that you ever played before.

p.p.p.s. The narrator uses the term "hidden object game" as he introduces it. However, after playing dozens of hidden object games, I can promise you that this game is NOT anywhere close to those boring hidden object games, that keep throwing vomitous screen shots up there, where you have to find 15 stupid things, like boomerangs hidden in moose horns. NO ,this not a hidden object game in my opinion. Yeah, there are hidden things you need to find, but they are all in real game play. Nowhere in this game are you sent to a screen where you have to find things that have nothing to do with the game. Give it a try, and I think you will like it, even though it ain't easy. :D

Cloudy a new Ravenhearst game should be coming out around Thanksgiving. The speculated title is Escape from Ravenhearst. Also, I've played Drawn. Wonderful artwork and wanted to let you know there are 2 sequels out there. You can get them on Bigfishgames.com.

Brandy, thanks for telling me that there are two sequels to "Drawn". I will have to go out there and get them. Thanks again. Have you played the sequels?

(Brandy, I just went on Amazon.com and bought "Drawn: Dark Flight". I couldn't find the third in the series. I have a feeling that it has not been released yet.)

Since Brandy sent me down to the catacombs in my basement to search for games that she recommended, I have stumbled across a bunch of games that have been sitting there collecting dust and cobwebs for decades, that I have never played. (All of them have not been down there for decades, but many have.) This is the first of many that I found that might be pretty good, and it isn't on a 5 1/4 floppy.

"Mystery in London, on the Trail of Jack the Ripper" from Big Fish Games looks pretty good. I only played it for about five minutes tonight, but after solving the first hidden object challenge, it looked okay to me. So far there have not been any of the idiotic hidden object screens that give you a list of 15 things you have to find that have nothing to do with the game. It's a Jack the Ripper mystery, and I think it could be a good game. I haven't gone far enough into the game to comment seriously on it. However, I will say that so far it looks like it might turn out to be a pretty good,

Here's a screen shot of one of the rooms this game will take you:

Image

................. Sadly, it looks you might have to suffer through some hidden object nonsense.

Here's a link to some video of the game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJYZiHp9U8g

p.s. I believe after loading this game to your computer, you will not have to have the CD in the drive to play it. It runs just fine on Windows 7.

I went back and played "Drawn, The Painted Tower" again. I had played it some years ago, but had forgotten what a wonderfully difficult and challenging game it was. If you are a true gamer, this is a game that you must play. I will tell you that it ain't easy, but I have now beaten it twice. Do you think that is a challenge...? Yep, it is... Let me know how you are doing on it, and if you get stuck (Which you will.) send me a private message and I will do my best to help you out.

When you get this far, you're doing pretty good... However, you still have a long way to go.

DANTE, this is a mysterious post. I feel like a complete idiot for not knowing what "T-Minus 8 days until the release of Skyrim" means. I can ony guess that there is a computer game called "Skyrim" that is going to be released in the next week or so.

Come on and tell us something about this that is not a mystery.

Hell, you sent me to Google. Yep, it looks like another "Elder Scrolls" game.

Image

DANTE, you give great recommendations, and I went out and bought all of the "Elder Scrolls" games, but I don't think that the ones I have will run on Windows 7. I might be wrong about this, and will try again to see if I can load them up and play them .

p.s. I'm guessing that "Skyrim" might be one of those computer games that cost $49.99.

p.p.s. If people, who have not played the earlier "Elder Scrolls" games try this game, do you think they can jump in on "Skyrim" and have a clue as what is going on, or what to do...?

"Memento Mori" is a game that I have never played, that I found looking for other games that all of you have sent me to the dust and cobweb ridden catacombs of my basement to find. I loaded it, and it plays just fine on Windows 7. (I was a little concerned that it said, "36 Items, 2.18 GB" as it was loading.) Anyway, I started the game. Didn't go very far into it, just far enough to make sure it would actually run. It looks like it might be a good game. I'll let you know how the game unfolds. Have any of you other guys and gals ever played it?

Image

Here's a little video of what the game looks like:

http://www.metacafe.com/watch/3044410/m ... d_info_pc/

p.s. After loading it, it plays without having to have the CD in the drive.

All these games look really fun. Starting in the 90's, I was all about my playstation (well, I still am actually) so I kinda got away from PC gaming for the most part but many of these look really nice. Right now I'm playing Dead Island and really loving that game. Definitely not one for younger kids or the squeamish.

Cheers,

All these games look really fun. Starting in the 90's, I was all about my playstation (well, I still am actually) so I kinda got away from PC gaming for the most part but many of these look really nice. Right now I'm playing Dead Island and really loving that game. Definitely not one for younger kids or the squeamish.

Okay, I guess I need to check out "Dead Island".

Is this the "Dead Island" game that you are playing?

Is this one of the scenes from the game?

Does this trailer video look like the game you are talking about?

If so, I think there is a PC version of it, and I will have to get it, because you give good recommendations.
