In a slight breach of thread concept...
I just saw a movie titled Birdemic.
Could someone else be a sport and watch this film to confirm my
suspicion that it could in fact be the worst movie of all time?
I apologize in advance...

I actually watched the snippet from "Birdemic" you gave us the link to. Other than the great idea of fighting off attacking, killer hawks, eagles, etc., with coat hangers, this movie appears to have no redeeming features, from the little bit of it I watched.

The only bird that can hover is the hummingbird, but this movie has avian raptors hovering, waiting to attack and kill people in the scene you provided us with.

Image

p.s. I still think the worst movie I have ever watched is "For Your Height Only".

Here's a link to a little video of "For Your Height Only" (Which I have already mentioned.):

Spotes, I've seen the movie twice! I love how the director is never afraid to stay with the same shot for a good while and I really enjoyed all of the driving scenes. By the way, did you actually rent this or watch it on Netflix?

I like the scene when they are shooting at the birds on the side of the road, and there are four or five cars that drive by like nothing is going on. Also the boardroom scene is so bad, it was made fun of on The Soup.

Twice?!?
Are you secretly a Franciscan monk performing an act of penance?
I know the church is getting progressive about this sort of stuff, but, geez, pass me the flail. Thank you sir, may I have another!
I don't think director James Nguyen ( I made a specific point of watching the credits to see whom to thank...) is doing environmentalists any favors with this level of filmmaking.
I'd rather watch Al Gore narrate a remake of Marathon Man called An Inconvenient Tooth.

I got it as a free rental at my video store.
I still think I got ripped off.

Hell, with all of you talking about "Birdemic, Shock and Terror", I might just go out and buy it. That is as long as it doesn't cost more than ten bucks.

I have become so intrigued with this movie, that I went out and got the sound track for the film.

Here's a link to where you can listen to it:

"Gulliver's Travels" (1939) is a feature cartoon, and a darn good one.

Image

Here is a link to some video of it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-JKqG9vmQk

Not only will you enjoy this movie, your kids and grandkids will love it too.

p.s. This is a Max Fleischer cartoon from Paramount in Technicolor, and Max was one of the best, when it came to cartoons.

p.p.s. There have been other "Gulliver's Travels" films made, and if you are going to try find this cartoon movie, be sure that you are looking for the 1939 Paramount version.

"The 10th Victim" (1965) is a great cult film. If you like Ursula Andress or Marcello Mastroianni, this is a MUST SEE...!

Here is some video from the movie:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDQ_A8Skzdg

p.s. ICEMAN had an earlier video that looked like Ursula, but I don't think it was she.

p.p.s. When you have nothing to do, watch this movie and find out if Ursula or Marcello wins...

"The Knack... and How to Get It" (1965) is another cult film from my freshman year at college. Hamilton, NY. only had one movie theater, so whatever was showing, was we went to see.

Here is some video of the movie:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lL7d0OQUdSQ

You should probably try to find it, and watch it, but don't worry, if you can't. My friends from the other side tell me that St. Peter has never seen "The Knack... and How to Get It" either. So I don't think that having missed watching this movie will keep you from passing through the Pearly Gates. However, if this concerns you, I have been told that there is a Bijou Theatre just outside the gateway to Heaven, where, if you need to, they will show you any movie that has ever been made upon request. :D

Dante and others, need some new tv show recommendations. Just finished Battlestar Galactica and Caprica and really enjoyed both. Any other shows like these?

The real Battlestar Galactica or the new one?

Assuming that by "like these" you mean passable schlock...

The Dresden Files (12 ep. of subdued magical fun)
Special Unit 2 (cheaply made but likeable)
The Adventures of Briscoe County Jr. (quality camp)
V (the original mini-series ONLY)
Painkiller Jane (8th generation "action gal" sf derivative, but well-made)
Brimstone (13 ep. of supernatural shenanigans)
Strange Luck (oddly satisfying fare)
Kolchak: the Night Stalker (you DO already own this, right?)
Quark (fun sf comedy series; created by Buck Henry)
Project UFO (it's dated a bit, but I loved it as a kid)
Logan's Run (if you're a big fan of cheap set design and feathered hair)

I'm working under the assumption that you've already gotten stuff like the X-Files, Twilight Zone, Heroes, etc. out of your system.

SPOTES, you have hit on another one of my favorite Sci-fi movies. "Logan's Run" was a darn good movie.

(Very belated edit: Actually I now believe that you were referring to the very short-lived 1976 TV series, which I never saw.)

"First Spaceship on Venus" (1960) is a sci-fi movie worth watching for sci-fi buffs, who enjoy that genre from that period of time.

Here is video part 1 from the movie:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdMcrwGnpZs

Here is video part 8 from the movie:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKQIbhxh ... re=related

Heck, I think you can watch the entire movie just by Googling all of its video parts.

(You actually won't have to Google all of the video parts of the movie. If you look to the right side of the screen, when the first part comes up, links to all of the other parts will be waiting for you to click on them. Oh, what the heck, go to Amazon.com and just buy the damn thing for about six bucks. You might even be able to pick it up on a double feature DVD.)

(A very Belated edit: I believe that I have already posted "First Spaceship on Venus" earlier in this thread.)

"Tales of Manhattan" (1942) is a recommendation from my house mate, DHB (Dave).

Here is a link to some video footage of the film:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1aXVxNAcKY

p.s. Dave (DHB) is a movie buff, who knows much more about old movies than I do. So far I think he has pretty good taste in movies.

p.p.s. DHB is reluctant to register on the "ScaRatings". I keep trying to get him to join up, but so far I have not been able to get him to do it. Here is Dave's e-mail address:

DHB672003@Yahoo.com

As a favor, I will ask all of you guys and gals to e-mail him, and tell him about how much fun he would have on the "ScaRatings" web site.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I am now turning the keyboard over to Dave, so he can tell you all more of the reasons why you all should check out "Tales of Manhattan".

Here's Johnny, oops, I meant to say, "Here's Dave..."
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Thank you Ed, oops, I meant to say Cloudy.

It's an interesting series of tales, dramatic, funny, harrowing, and a few other adjectives, all revolving around a coat tail, a tuxedo coat with "tails". There was a lot of jargon used in those days that is easy to follow, but gives a sense of the slang and the way people talked back then. It shows the way certain ethnic groups were portrayed in movies of the day. The last of the tales is a perfect example. I think anyone watching this movie will find a favorite among the many tales.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(CLOUDY now has the keyboard back, and is posting again.) Please send Dave your e-mails to try to encourage him to register on the "ScaRatings". He would contribute a lot on many of the treads. :D

"Ecco" (1965) is probably one of the most obscure movies that have posted to this thread. It was a foreign film, and the original title was "Il mono di notte numero 3", according to the "IMDB" web site.

Here is "IMDB's" comment on the movie:

"A documentary highlighting some of the oddest, strangest and more grotesque examples of human behavior"

This was a great movie for a drunk college freshman to watch at the only movie theater in town.

I would tell you all to go out and buy it, but after checking it out, I think they are asking $13.49 for it. :(

p.s. One of the few things I remember from the film was how Lappland women interacted with reindeer.

p.p.s. The following is for PENGWN only. Which of these is the correct way to spell the name of the place where people live in northern Russia:

- Lappland
- Lapland
- Lapp Land
- Lap Land

"Fiend Without a Face" (1958) was a great sci-fi monster movie. You youngsters might be somewhat disappointed with it. However, for any old farts out there, who liked those old black and white, sci-fi monster movies from the 1950's, this is a MUST see movie!

Here is a link to some video from the movie:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJmXXU2oISQ

Here's another link to some footage from the movie:

(Another very belated edit. I believe that I have previously posted about this movie on this thread.)
