Some good choices here. I feel I have a considerable edge on one of these Topix. Indifferent toward 12/15.

Well, on New England States, after twelve questions I had 12,000 points (and on a solo game.) Then they had to ask a question about the lottery. (No, I did not play today!) I bombed question #14 as well (I don't even recall what that was) before nailing the last question. Still a very good game.

Congrats to West Park in Ohio for their perfect game and near-prefect team performance.

thanks for noticing, zog. i got there after the last question and before the rankings and the guys asked me if i knew anything about rhode island counties. i would have been clueless as well. wonk showed up even later and said he knew about lincoln county in rhode island. but he's always showing up late and telling us he knew the answer the rest of us didn't have.

The Rhode Island Counties one was question #15, which I nailed for 1000. Washington County is also known as "South County" to Ocean Staters.

There is no Lincoln County in Rhode Island. The counties are Bristol, Kent, Newport, Providence, and Washington.

It is question #14 that I don't recall.

Richard, good game. I was 24th based on the rankings tonight. Was #14 "Which NE state entered the union last?" Not sure, if I heard part of it, Id know it... I got sabotaged by BWWs (am in Florida) boxes costing me a few hundred points and a nearly complete miss (got 200 points instead of 1000) on the Capitals question even though I knew it which would have put me at 14K. Only question that I truly missed was the square area.

Tim,

Long time, no hear from. :)

I think the question of the New England state that last entered the Union was one of the first 5 of the game. The square miles question was scary but I got that for 1000 as well. (That question was the total square miles of all six New England states, and that was Question #11.) Another scary one for me that I still got for 1000 was the name of the Patriots stadium (and you of all people know that's definitely the type of question I'd miss.) :)

Here are the 15 questions. Badly paraphrased and completely out of order...
Tallest building in New England?
Mystic is known for what?
which state has a cape jetting into Atlantic Ocean?
What stadium is in Foxborough, MA?
Which feature is not in New Hampshire?
Which state is named after Roger Williams?
Which state was last to enter Union?
Which state had first lottery?
Which city listed was not the capital? **** BWW Box
what is longest Mountain range running through New England?
Total square area of New England?
Name the military site in Vermont?
What type of tree is Maine known for?
What is the name of the county in Rhode Island?
First Year that the term New England was used (was this #14 - it was towards the end)

That was the one. I really thought that I read about that term being used prior to 1620; I must have been mistaken.

The question three above that was not "name the military site", it was to name the 306' obelisk that is VT's tallest structure. Other than that, you nailed it.

1620 was when the English settled there. Prior to that, precognition would be required.
I think the obelisk site (the game's only Vermont question) asked in what town is Vermont's highest structure, an obelisk commemorating a battle.

Other specifications:

2) Which was a big industry in Mystic during the 1800s? (Hey Buzztime, there's a lot more in Connecticut than Mystic!)
4) The not-in-NH answer was the Ben & Jerry's factory
13) The state tree of Maine is the:

As I said, they were badly paraphrased. Was hoping for a few more Connecticut questions but still really liked the game.
