Here is my attempt at writing a Sports IQ game. I basically used the game STATS wrote as a template (thanks STATS!), but have spaced things a little differently so that you can hopefully see all the clues separately for the year round, and not see the follow-up questions too early in round 2. Feel free to give me feedback if you want, both on the quality of the game and any potential errors. I had fun making it so if people enjoy it I will likely do it again.

A well-written game for sure, did better at this one for whatever reason than the one STATS wrote. Enjoyed the local flavor thrown in with Chauncey, O'Bannon, and 5 downs.

Great job, Jethro! :D :D :D I am glad to see that there are others who wanted to post games of Sports IQ for everyone's enjoyment. I certainly enjoyed it and think that you definately improved on my template with the way you spaced out the answers. :D

I agree with Bo that it's well written and like the idea of a game's author adding a "local flavor". I did that in my game with some clues for my friend UCFHCY and not because I was trying to upset our friends up in Canuckistan. :mrgreen:

I actually thought your game was harder than mine but am not really sure because I knew my answers when I posted my game. I scored by round: Round 1 - 27, Round 2 - 15+ (I knew 3 of 6 but may have gained some partial credit had I seen pictures.), Round 3 - Estimated 42+ (knew 5 for sure and estimated the rest), Round 4 - 34 (a couple of good guesses in my favorite round), and Round 5 - 50 (only 2 points for baseball players' hits and got the other ones right). My total of 168 or more would put me right about my average when the game was ended by BT. Spotes said he scored 185 on my game but Bo said he did better at yours so I would be curious to hear what others think of each game as well.

That brings me to my question: Was Sports IQ too hard of a game for the masses that BT felt that it needed to be removed from their schedule? Or did they simply not wish to make the effort to create the game itself? There isn't anybody who believes that the replacement game is more interesting that Sports IQ or even Sports Trivia Challenge was.

Jethro, I appreciate the effort you made to create a game here for us. I hope that others will see that and follow suit, especially BT.

SIQ has always separated the men from the boys especially the year round. Well, it really separated with all the rounds before they fucked with it, the scoring in the final round was great, 2, 6, 12, 20, 30 was awesome (I hated when Hockey was either of the last two, but maybe I should have paid more attention to hockey), then partial points for WRONG answers, and that spelling round is just terrible especially in a dark bar.

The new game sucks ass, but the graphics are pretty. Too bad it is not a destination game, it is a waste of space. I can't wait until Buzztime just folds. The split has driven numbers to below pre-split numbers. The whole company is full of dumbasses. I honestly don't think Buzztime will not make it long enough to put SIQ/STC back on the air, they are sinking fast and without us long timers to prop them up, they are toast. Also, if they make it so the questions show up on my iPad, I won't ever leave the house to play trivia in a bar.

Given that the first round of ten questions and the third round of ten questions were all current events and that they were usually accompanied by at least one current event question each from rounds two and five, not to mention that the year round invariably had two or three from the 2000s, I feel it more accurate to say that it separated the boys from the men... :P

STC... eight current event questions to put up with in the first round and then real sports trivia players get to ram it right down peoples' throats, just like God and Bronko Nagurski intended. :mrgreen:

I did slightly worse on Jethro's game.

first round - 30

second round - gave myself 23; would have gotten Robinson from picture but depending on which end they started it could have been anywhere between 1 and 5 points so I just split the difference and gave myself the average between the extremes. Missed the follow-up to him.

third round - 46; couldn't think of Georgia instantly so I deducted one point but would have gotten it relatively quickly; didn't know Malaysia, but could have deduced it for two at the minimum.

fourth round - 37; got 1982 for 4.0, lucky guessed 1973 for 5.0, 2007 for 4, 1995 for 4.0, quasi-lucky guessed 2000 for 5.0, 1955 for 5.0 (piece of cake :mrgreen:) , 1979 for 5.0 lucky guess confirmed by Petty clue, 1990 for 5.0 with a debt of gratitude to BO for his constant bitching. :P

fifth round - 46;
swapped O' Meara and Kite for 6.0;
nailed career hits for 12.0;
became happiest man on the planet for getting NBA rookies for 12.0;
became saddest man on planet with 4.0 on hockey arenas;
finished with 12.0 on TD catches while searching in vain for Frank Filchock to Andy Farkas

Total - 182
With the variables from the Robinson question and the spelling round, my score could have easily been exactly the same from both games. So, I suppose they're about even in difficulty from where I'm sitting.

Nothing against TomD, but you boys are good for my average. :mrgreen:
