Well, as more or less promised elsewhere...
As some of you have seen, Pacific Beach Bar & Grill (PBB&G) is the highest ranked site in The (Just Plain Old) Site-Poor Backyard, San Diego County, CA (such as the ranking system is). It's also the site with the most Playmakers (thirty, though at least a couple or so are almost always in some state of disrepair).
PBB&G is on the major business street of the Pacific Beach district, Garnet Avenue, and is a couple of blocks walk from the Pacific Ocean. It was once the central site of what was a doable NTN pub crawl around a dozen years or so ago, but all those other sites have discontinued (FWIW, from west to east; the former Pizzeria Uno's Pacific Beach, now Miller's Field; Moondoggie's; Plum Crazy; Tavern At The Beach (also once known as The Daily Planet)). There's another NTN site further east on Garnet than Tavern At The Beach, RT's Longboard Grill, but based on my lone visit there, I sense that they won't have NTN Buzztime much longer.
PBB&G offers outstanding daily specials on both food and drink every day of the week. Their most popular day is Taco Tuesday, including discounted specials on all Mexican offerings.
Getting in and out of Pacific Beach can be a lil slow unless one uses Grand Avenue, two blocks south of Garnet. Grand is four lanes divided and usually flows well, whereas Garnet is only two lanes undivided and, as one would expect from a major business street, often flows way more than a lil slow.
Parking in the area is also more than a lil tricky. There's very limited parking in the PBB&G lot, but there have been times when, after logging off and heading back to the liljol vehicle, some inconsiderate dorkasses park illegally and block the exits of numerous others parked properly.
There's a pay lot next to PBB&G ($5 for 8 hours) that seems to always have plenty of spaces in the early evenings, but I sense that it could be full later in the night. There's also a pay lot next to Bank Of America on the other side of Bayard Street, and another on the other side of Garnet. There are a number of unzoned and mostly diagonal parking spaces within a block or so of PBB&G, but as one would expect, they are almost always taken. All parking on Garnet is zoned and/or metered until 6:00 P.M.
Most of the NTN Buzztime play is on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday around the destination and premium games. There are also some QB1 players for MNF. As some of you have probably noticed, PBB&G tends to limp in more often than not during those times, but IMO the major objective is enjoying each others' company. We do welcome visiting players, though it would help more than a lil if advance notice (and, maybe even a follow up reminder) were provided.
