I have been wrong about Josh Randall's weapon for all of these years. Frank, thank you for setting me straight. :D

Am I wrong about this too...? Did Pahoo-Ka-Ta-Wah, Yancy Derringer's sidekick, carry a sawed off shot gun?

It was not sawed off.

Frank, Wikipedia has a different answer:

"Yancy's sidekick, Pahoo-Ka-Ta-Wah, is a silent Pawnee American Indian who communicates only by hand gestures. Pa-hoo-Ka-Ta-Wah is Pawnee for "Wolf who stands in water." Although Pahoo is short on talk, he is long on action. Beneath a blanket wrapped about his body, he carries a sawed-off double-barreled shotgun loaded with split buckshot, which he wields in emergencies."

Something yesterday got me into a conversation about the Steve Martin movie. "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid".

I liked that movie.

"Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" (1982) starring Steve Martin, is one of my favorites too. I don't think Steve Martin has ever made a bad movie.

Here's the trailer:

"Wee Geordie" (1955) is a very obscure British movie that is worth watching. My dad liked it, and so did I. It tells a tale that young laddies should learn, before they are led astray...

Here is some footage from the movie that really doesn't give the movie justice, because it just shows the begining and leaves so much out. Get the movie, and watch the whole thing. You will love it. Oh, here is the footage:

"Shakes the Clown" (1991) is a TIEFLY recommendation. Damn, I've got it on VHS, but have never watched it. Guess I need to get off my butt, find it, and watch it.

Here's the trailer:

Looks like I've got to go out and find this movie to add to my ever growing collection. Peter Graves is pretty good, and I like the idea of the movie. Guess I'll be going to Amazon.com tomorrow to pick it up. :D

Here is part 1 of the movie:

(This should be enough to get you interested. I sure want to find out what is going on.)

"The Court Jester" (1955/1956) starring Danny Kaye, Glynis Johns, Basil Rathbone, and Angela Lansbury is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Perhaps it isn't truly obscure, but I have a feeling that many of you have never seen it, and you should...

Here are some clips from the movie:

p.s. Not only is it great, the movie is in COLOR...!

There are two World War II movies that I can only remember a scene from, that I would like to know the names of, and perhaps watch again.

Both of the movies were about action in North Africa.

The scene I remember in one of them was about a small American or British unit outnumbered by the Germans, that put chains on the wheels of a jeep, and drove it around behind sand dunes to fool the Germans by the sound that the chains created, that they had tanks (which they didn't) waiting to go into battle. The trick worked.

The scene from the other movie that I remember, was about a small American or British unit trying to escape, but unable to get their truck (perhaps a half-track) over a very high and steep sand dune. They finally figured out that the vehicle could actually pull itself up the sand dune, by attaching a cable from the winch in the front of the vehicle to a steel bar, that they drove into the top of the sand dune.

(My memories of these movies may not be absolutely correct, but they are close.)

Can any of you guys come up with the names of these movies...? You've done it before, and I'm hoping that you can do it again. :D

"Flight of the Navigator" (1986) was a Disney film I watched with my kids. I really liked it, and if you can find it, I would recommend that you watch it with your kids or grandkids. (While you're at it, order a pizza.) It's a fun movie.

Here are two trailers:

If you are talking about 1940s movies, they could be "Five Graves to Cairo" and "Immortal Sargent". If you are talking later, there are a few other possibilities.

Frank, I think both of these movies would have been made in the 1940's. (Both were black and white films.) I will have to check out "Five Graves to Cairo" (1943) and "Immortal Sergeant" (1943). Hell, I now plan to add these two movies to my ever growing library. Thanks for trying to help me. :D

"Swiss Family Robinson" (1960) is a Disney film that is definitely not a great movie by SPOTES' standards, but it is a fun movie, by my standards. It losely follows the Johann David Wyss 1812 novel, with a lot of Disneyfication (my word) thrown in. This is another one to order pizzas for to watch with your kids or grandkids. Heck, I think you will have fun watching it too, but for sure the kids will.

Here's the trailer:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2b9MQ7vGL4

p.s. The movie does have a wee bit of violence in it, but it's only to fight the bad guys off, and I don't think anyone got killed.

"Hitler-Dead or Alive" (1942) is a goofy black and white World War II propaganda movie. As bad and goofy as it was, I kind of liked it. I can only recommend this movie to those, who enjoy anti-NASI films from a time when World War II was going on.

Here is a link where I think you can see the entire movie:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wULh5c2UD5M

Here is a link to just part of the movie:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeeWYyH5MZE

Hollywood doesn't make them like this anymore. I'm rooting for the the mob in this movie. Try to pretend that you don't know how World War II ended, and watch it to find out if the American mob was able to take Hitler out.

(It is interesting that also in 1942 the United States actually released the mobster Lucy Luciano from prison, so he could get us help from the Mafia in Sicily to bring Mussolini down. This is not a joke.)

Rewatched "The Conquerors" w/ John Wayne as Genghis Khan the other night.

Laughed harder than I did the first time. Not sure where dad got the dvd.

I wish someone would bring me a "fine gazelle".

"The Conqueror" (1956) starring John Wayne and Susan Hayward, is a TIEFLY recommendation for a goofy movie, that is only good for a laugh. (Actually, I think it was more of a TIEFLY comment than a recommendation.) I have to agree with him. This movie is laughable at best. Perhaps, a few fruit jars of moonshine might make it better, but I'm guessing not, because I'm sure that TIEFLY has already tried this out.

I think this link takes you to the full movie. Watch as much of it as you can stand, before you die of laughter:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuTWe2OLdco

p.s. "The Conqueror" is without a question the worst movie that John Wayne ever made.

p.p.s. It was filmed in color, but it might have been a better film, if it was in black and white.

That might be a good one to watch, as long as I have a case of cold beer by my side to see me through.

p.s. Mudee, your "Caveman" movie poster has trouble showing up. If you copied it from IMDb, I wouldn't be surprised. Check out Google images, and I think you can find one to replace it with that won't have the problem of disappearing.

"Lair of the White Worm"

I remember watching this while hanging out in Hull's Cove, Maine.

It has Hugh Grant in it...and a white worm.

"The Lair of the White Worm" (1988) is a movie I have, but have yet to watch. I guess I now have to go down to the catacombs in my basement and find TIEFLY's recommendation. Actually, I think it might be pretty good, after a bunch of brewsis or a jar or two of moonshine.

Here's the trailer:
