New Scaratings

The Showdown bug described a couple months ago has not been corrected. Until it is corrected, locations using the Chromebox (which includes my team)
have a grossly unfair advantage over teams using older equipment because they get full credit on their final question wager no matter when they put in a
correct answer for the final question. I see no way to compensate for that. Therefore, Showdown tournaments should not be run until, one way or another,
all teams are scored the same way.

Agreed. I alerted the folks at Danny K's to this issue a while back, and it is for this reason that they wisely decided not to hold the McCarthy Cup tournament in the spring as usual.

For those who were not on the last Buzztime monthly call, they said they hoped to have all the sites converted over to the new system by the end of summer. I'll believe it when I see it, of course; but if that happens, at least the playing field will be level then (even if the game will be different in the Category and Final rounds). Thus, it might be possible for Danny K's to hold the Sandbag Tournament in the fall as usual. I guess we'll see.

I was wondering if that was still the case. Last night was our first on the new system and we were going to look at how the last question was scored. Then we got a pre call on TS Eliot and our smokers went outside, the rest of us got back to whatever nonsense we were talking about and our pea brains forgot to check.

I thought I had seen the guess was the end of the year to have all bars on BGN. I doubt by end of summer is possible. Stro can confirm what was suggested by Aram.

To quote me, "they almost but not quite said that old-time locations had until the end of the summer to move over to BGN."

Whatever happens, we won't be able to track it because the number of locations that have switched has been deemed "private." For that matter,
the monthly meeting for April has not been scheduled. Wouldn't surprise me if they stopped them because the desired audience isn't showing up for them.

It's hard to see why locations who don't care about Showdown or Spotlight (if a SiteHub) or who already have it (the older equipment) would want to voluntarily upgrade, and if it
becomes "Upgrade or Else," a lot of them would choose "Else."

Last night, the Showdown point counter worked properly on the Final Question at a BGN site, not giving full credit for a correct answer no matter when you got to it.
